Grommet removal with installed stud nut
This type must be used if the stud nut is already installed in the grommet
Attach the push-out unit to the stud nut by screwing the tension bolt into the stud nut.
Fix the stud nut from the opposite site with an appropriate screwdriver.
Hold the tension bolt and screw the body down by using the two handles until it is in tight contact to the grommet and the stud nut is fixed between the push-out-unit and the counter bearing.
Continue screwing the body with increased torque until the grommet is fully unwaged and pushed out of the panel.
Unscrew the tension bolt from the stud nut, if necessary use an appropriate screwdriver (e.g. Torx©-bit) to fix the Stud Nut
Examine the drilling for any kinds of damage (e.g. de-lamination, cracks).
In case of damage the drilling must be reworked and an oversize (repair) grommetmust be used.
GROMMET REMOVAL WITHOUT STUD NUT
GROMMET REMOVAL (WITHOUT STUD NUT)
This type must be used if only the Grommet must be removed.
In case that the stud nut is still installed, “GROMMET REMOVAL TOOLS – TYPE A” should be used instead.
Operation - Type B
Insert threaded rod of the Socket through the installed Grommet
Attach Nut to the threaded rod of the Socket.
Engage the nut until the grommet is fully unswaged and pushed out of the panel.
If required, hold the socket with an appropriate wrench to avoid rotation.
Unscrew the Nut from the Socket and remove the Socket from the panel.
Examine the drilling for any kinds of damage (e.g. delamination, cracks).
In case of damage the drilling must be reworked and an oversize (repair) grommetmust be used.
